TREY MCINTYRE Wild Sweet Love
EDWAARD LIANG Wunderland
MA CONG World Premiere
From the Partridge Family to Mendelssohn’s famous Wedding March, from Puppy Love to deeply felt emotion, Trey McIntyre’s Wild Sweet Love shows us that love wears many faces. Beautiful and intensely moving, Edwaard Liang’s Wunderland was the run-away hit of the 2011 Modern Masters season. Ma Cong, one of the most sought after choreographers in the nation, takes aim with Cupid’s Bow to create a fresh new look at love with a World Premiere.

PITE Ten Duets on a Theme of Rescue *
STRØMGREN Necessity, Again (music: Aznavour) *
Since its founding 10 years ago, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet has become the go-to group for some of the world's most innovative and exciting work by up-and-coming choreographers. Led by Interim Artistic Director, Alexandra Damiani, the intensely physical company has built a reputation for its daring integration of ballet technique into contemporary forms, with dancers who are "exceptional, as skilled in detailed, classical articulation as in gutsy, full-bodied power" (The Guardian, London). Emotionally visceral works by international choreographers Crystal Pite, Jo Strømgren, and Jiří Kylián: showcase this distinctive company in all its dramatic power, with vivid stage lighting and driving musical scores.
* Bay Area Premieres

UNDERLAND
This mixed repertory program features excerpts from Stephen Petronio’s critically acclaimed UNDERLAND (2011), a vividly surging work inspired by the dark, bittersweet songs of Australian balladeer Nick Cave; Intravenous Lecture by Steve Paxton (1970/2012), an improvised meditation on censorship utilizing movement and spoken text, performed by Petronio; and a selection of solo and duet highlights from 30 years of Petronio’s unique and powerful movement language.
